I had to take a quick look at Facebook yesterday morning (there are some people in my life with whom I communicate via FB private message, & I needed to check in), where I ran across a posting at the top of my feed recommending an Alan Watts' video with the title You are already enough, stop trying to fix yourself. I dearly love Alan Watts, so decided I'd check it out later in the day.
Then I went to Substack to quickly check something on my own site, & ran across a couple of simply lovely postings by writers I'd never encountered before.
& then I thought
Enough!
Knowing I could wind up scrolling forever, finding all kinds of amazing information & great postings (Substack simply brims with good writers!) ...
but not wanting to do that.
I had already decided that enough was going to be my theme of the day.
We can all go on forever, right?
Scrolling & scrolling
Finding "good" stuff, informative stuff, depressing stuff
Doom-scrolling, maybe
Not having the will power to stop.
But ... nope!
I was not going to do that.
So I went about my day – a lovely one, as it turned out!
& I did watch the Alan Watts' YouTube
& it was good, I felt – with some advice it seems to me would be useful to pretty much everyone I know.
And.
It was all enough! More than enough.
And I could relate a funny set of thoughts I've had before about being a little like Goldilocks & the three bears, vis-a-vis my relationships with men. Musings on (my or their) being enough, or not enough – or being enough for a while, & then maybe not being enough anymore – or maybe even being too much.
But you know what?
Enough already.
Enough's enough!
I have enough.
I know enough (for now, anyway).
I am enough.
As are we all.
With thanks to Alan Watts & his wisdom.
And knowing when it's time to un-plug.

p.s. & of course I was reminded of that thing Kurt Vonnegut used to recommend that we find the opportunity to say, as often as possible, "If this isn't nice, I don't know what is!"
p.p.s. & today has gone kind of sideways on me, so I’m very glad I had that “enough” day yesterday!!
p.p.p.s. If you enjoy & value my postings, please consider becoming a paying subscriber. Only if finances permit, of course! I am very grateful to the individuals on my tiny list of paying subscribers (thank you, thank you, thank you!!🙂 🙂), & would be ever-so-grateful if you too were to become one of them!
