I'm not going to go into what it was. It's not particularly relevant.
Plus, I'm kind of embarrassed about it.
But!
I did realize pronto that I'd just done something pretty stupid.
& got a good lesson from it.
I realized I'd been stupid.
Lord knows I've done a bucketload (or ten) of really dumb things in my life.
Haven't we all??
Admitted it to myself.
Told myself I would smarten up toute suite.
Never make that mistake again!
I wonder - can't we all just admit when we've done something stupid? Or wrong?
“The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.” – Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf
Rather than keep right on doing it - adding insult to injury?
Instead of ... gasp ... changing?
& embarking on a slightly different path?
“No matter how far you’ve gone down a wrong road, TURN BACK!” – Source unknown
& telling the truth to (& about) our own selves?
“If you do not tell the truth about yourself, you cannot tell it about other people.” – Virginia Woolf, 1882-1941
“When one is a stranger to oneself then one is estranged from others too.” – Anne Morrow Lindberg (b. 1906, American writer & aviator)
After all, as James M. Barrie said
“Life is a long lesson in humility.”
After all, there are still some things it's not too late for!
We can't necessarily "change the world."
There's much evil afoot on our lovely planet at this time - I'm not sure how much we can do about that.
But we can change ourselves.
It's still not too late for that!
** some quotations about change
** & some about courage
p.s. Oh.
Here is something else we can do.
Stay human!
Ha! I'm fine with this (doing, saying stupid things) constantly surprise myself with it. See it as good sign to be old and still able for it to happen lol it goes with my mind not stagnating 😁 most people my age are absolutely sure of themselves not being capable of doing/saying anything stupid. You see, it comes with age, as: they're old, therefore they're smart lol. A lovely post Janet, thank you -:))
Wonderful! I agree! I also strive to be more forgiving towards others for their mistakes. It's my way of showing gratitude when people have forgiven me. Life has a way of balancing things out in the end.
